How much does AI automation cost in 2026?
By Shreekant Pratap Singh, Founder, Technosys IT Management · Updated · 6 min read
Short answer
A first AI automation typically costs a few thousand dollars for a small, fixed-scope build, and tens of thousands for enterprise programmes. Running costs add platform fees and AI model usage. The price depends mostly on how many systems the workflow touches and how much judgement it needs.
Key takeaways
- Published entry prices start around $5,000 for a small set of workflows and rise steeply with scope.
- Ongoing costs come from the automation platform, AI model usage and support.
- Integration count and exception handling drive cost more than the AI itself.
- A short prototype on your own process is the cheapest way to get an accurate production price.
Published prices across the market
Few agencies publish prices, but those that do give a useful range.
| Offer | Published price | Source |
|---|---|---|
| Fixed build of up to 4 n8n workflows | $5,000 | Goodspeed n8n agency guide |
| RPA bot (market range) | $10,000 to $50,000 per bot | Kanerika RPA page |
| Enterprise first phase (market range) | $75,000 to $200,000 | Kanerika RPA page |
| Agency AI engagement minimum budget | From $15,000 | Morningside AI contact form |
What drives the price
Number of systems: each integration needs access, data mapping and error handling. A workflow between two tools is far cheaper than one across an ERP, a CRM and three inboxes.
Judgement: rules-based steps are cheap. Steps where AI reads documents, classifies requests or drafts replies need prompt design, testing on real examples and a human review step.
Exceptions: the last 20 percent of cases, such as unusual formats and missing data, often take most of the build time.
Compliance: regulated data may require self-hosting or specific cloud regions, which adds setup and maintenance.
Running costs after launch
Expect three running costs: the automation platform subscription, AI model usage billed per token, and support to fix what breaks when connected tools change. For most mid-size workflows the platform and model costs are small next to the hours saved, which is why measuring hours before and after matters.
How Technosys prices
We start with a free strategy call, then a short fixed-fee audit that measures the process. A free two-week Prototype Sprint builds a working version on your systems. Only then do we quote the production build, as a fixed price. See the pricing page for the full path.
